Health Ministry reports 19 additional Covid-19 related deaths and 511 new cases

The Health Ministry is reporting 19 additional Covid-19 related deaths.

The deaths occurred between August 11 and September 7.

The deceased are 12 males and 7 females.

They range in age from 19 to 91 years.

9 lived in Manchester, 2 lived in St. Elizabeth, Westmoreland, St. Catherine and Kingston and St. Andrew each and 1 lived in Trelawny and St. James each.

The country’s Covid death toll is now 1,685.

There was one coincidental death.

The Health Ministry says 5 additional deaths are under investigation.

Meantime, there were 511 new Covid-19 cases, pushing the tally to 74,007.

Of the new cases, 302 are females and 209 are males.

They range in age from 3 months to 104 years.

The positivty rate is 32.5 per cent.

Kingston and St. Andrew recorded the highest number of cases with 130 followed by St. Catherine with 100.

740 persons are in hospital, among them 124 are severely ill, 52 critically ill and 149 moderately ill.

96 more persons have recovered, pushing that tally to 49,231.

22,615 cases are active.
