Health Ministry reports declines in Covid-19 cases, deaths and hospitalizations

The Health Ministry is reporting declines in Covid-19 cases, deaths and hospitalizations.

144 new Covid-19 cases were recorded yesterday (September 28) down from the 312 recorded on Monday (September 27).

Deaths went down from 18 on Monday 1 yesterday, while the number of persons in hospitals is now 594, down from 608.

Among the 594 persons hospitalised with Covid-19, 94 are severely ill, 34 are critically ill and 141 are moderately ill.

145 more persons have recovered, pushing the tally to 52, 676.

28,363 cases are active.

Meantime, the 144 new cases recorded yesterday have pushed the country’s case count to 83,486.

Of the new cases 86 are females and 58 are males.

They range in age from 2 months to 95 years.

All parishes except Hanover and St. Elizabeth recorded new cases.

Kingston and St. Andrew recorded the highest number of cases with 40, followed by St. Catherine with 39.

The positivity rate is 19.7%.

Meantime, 1 additional Covid-19 related death has pushed the death toll to 1,860.

The deceased is a 76 year old man from St. Catherine.

The Health Ministry says 5 additional deaths are under investigation.
