Effective immediately, public hospitals across the island will accept emergency cases only.

In a release, the Health Ministry says this move comes as public health facilities, register continued increases in confirmed and suspected cases of Covid-19 infections, that require hospitalization.

Director of Family Health Services in the Ministry of Health and Wellness, Dr. Melody Ennis said hospitals will begin discharging patients who can receive home care.

Dr. Ennis is urging persons who have illnesses and are at home to take their medication as prescribed to prevent hospitalization.
