Historic night for Lebron James as Cavaliers reach third straight NBA Final

Cleveland forward LeBron James moved past hall of famer Michael Jordan as the leading scorer in NBA playoff history last night.

This after he scored 35 points to guide the Cavaliers to a 135-102 hammering of the Boston Celtics to clinch the best-of-seven Eastern Conference Final series 4-1.

James entered the game needing 28 points to surpass Jordan’s 5,987 points, and he reached the milestone late in the third quarter with a three-point jump shot to move to 5,995 points and guide the cavaliers into a third straight NBA finals .

James said the magnitude of the achievement is still sinking in.

Kyrie Irving finished with 24 points and seven assists, while Kevin Love had a double-double of 15 points and 11 rebounds.

The Cavaliers will now face the Golden State Warriors in the eagerly anticipated clash which will be the third successive season the two teams have met in the finals.

Game one of the seven game finals is set for Golden State on June 1.
