Holness calls on parliamentarians to find common ground regarding the SOE

by October 1st, 2019

Prime Minister Andrew Holness has lamented that, the differing comments by members of the lower house regarding the states of emergency, are confusing the public.

This against the background that the government has continually claimed the state of emergency is working, while the opposition said it’s not.

Speaking in parliament this afternoon, as the members debated a resolution to extend the SOE in St. Andrew South , Holness noted that this apparent division did not augur well for a show of unity.

He said there is need for finding common ground.

Mr. Holness expressed hope that a scheduled meeting with the Opposition Leader will see them reaching a consensus.

The St. Andrew South SOE was extended or 90 days, with all parliamentarians present voting in favour of the resolution.
