Prime Minister Andrew Holness has commended the Jamaica Defence Force (JDF) for being able to retool and respond to unconventional threats to national security.

Mr. Holness was addressing today’s (Apl 25) official opening of the Lathbury Barracks offices and accommodation, at Up Park Camp in Kingston.

He pointed to issues such as organised crime, and cybercrime.

The Prime Minister said these threats meant that the JDF had to rethink its role, a process that resulted in the establishment of the National Service Corp.

He said the JDF has responded well to the call to provide peace-keeping efforts, in volatile communities.
