Holness contemplating performance pay for ministers

by January 24th, 2020

Prime Minister Andrew Holness, says the government is considering performance-based pay for ministers as part of measures to transform the public sector.

Mr. Holness made the disclosure while addressing the ministry of economic growth and job creation’s general staff meeting, at the Jamaica conference centre, in downtown Kingston, yesterday.

Noting that the country’s permanent secretaries agreed to a performance-based pay system last December, Mr. Holness said this new system could apply to ministers as well.

He said implementation of the system across the public service will be undertaken gradually, so that persons can see that it is working and buy into the concept.
