Holness promises help for Mobay flood victims

Prime Minister Andrew Holness, has promised to assist several residents who lost their homes in the flood waters, which ravaged sections of Montego Bay, St. James, last evening.

Many business establishments, schools and at least one hotel were affected by flood waters.

Irie FM News spoke with resident, Ashman Williams, who says yesterday’s heavy rains, destroyed his wooden house, as well as his livestock.

The Prime Minister toured the affected areas earlier today (Nov 23) along with Local Government Minister Desmond McKenzie, Mayor of Montego Bay Homer Davis and other officials.

Speaking at a press conference after the tour, Mr. Holness said the government will help in the recovery process, for the affected persons.

He said adjustments will have to be made, to the supplementary budget estimates which are to be tabled in parliament soon.
