by March 8th, 2019

The International Monetary Fund (IMF) has called on the Jamaican government, to ensure that steps are taken to reduce the scope for corruption in public bodies, including at Petrojam.

The comments come in the wake of reports of mismanagement at the state-run oil refinery, and the controversy surrounding the former human resource manager.

Speaking at a mission review press briefing this afternoon (Mar 8) IMF Mission Chief to Jamaica Dr. Uma Ramakrishnan outlined some of the government’s accomplishments, under the current agreement with the IMF.

She also outlined measures that the government should take to improve public sector efficiency, as well as curtail shortcomings in the governance of public bodies.
