India’s bowler Khaleel Ahmed given official warning after mocking Marlon Samuels

India’s left-arm fast bowler Khaleel Ahmed has been given an official warning and a demerit point for breaching Level 1 of the ICC Code of Conduct for Players and Player Support Personnel during the fourth India -Windies ODI at the Cricket Club of India in Mumbai.

According to an official ICC release, Khaleel has been pulled up for ‘advancing aggressively’ towards Marlon Samuels after dismissing him in the 14th of the fixture. According to the onfield umpires, the celebration was provocative in nature.

Khaleel was found to have violated Article 2.5 of the Code, which relates to “using language, actions or gestures which disparage or which could provoke an aggressive reaction from a batter upon his/her dismissal during an international match”.
