The Industrial Disputes Tribunal (IDT) has ordered that the industrial action issued on the management of UC Rusal Alumina Jamaica Limited in relation to a protracted wage dispute, cease with immediate effect.

This, after Labour Minister Karl Samuda on Friday (March 31) referred the protracted wage dispute between the Union of Clerical, Administrative and Supervisory Employees (U-CASE) and UC Rusal to the IDT.

Mr Samuda’s referral follows two notices of industrial action by U-CASE, which maintains that even after three emergency conciliatory meetings at the Labour Ministry, both parties could not reach an agreement.

In response, the IDT ordered that the industrial action should come to an end and that normalcy should be restored and maintained at UC Rusal.
