IRIE FM’s Bob Clarke receives OD

IRIE FM’s Bob Clarke was among several industry players who received National Honours from the Jamaican Government on Monday.

The veteran broadcaster who is one of the founders of reggae radio Irie FM, received the order of distinction in the rank of officer, for service to the entertainment industry, especially broadcasting.

International singers Harry Belafonte and Grace Jones, dancehall veteran King Yellowman, Reggae Sumfest original member Johnny Gourzong, and Barbara Blake-Hanna are some of the entertainment practitioners who were awarded.

International sensation Grace Jones received the order of Jamaica for her contribution to entertainment. While, internationally renowned singer, Harry Belafonte was awarded the order of merit for outstanding contribution to music.

King of the dancehall Yellowman, Johnny Gourzong, and Barbra Blake-Hanna all received the order of distinction, officer rank. Yellowman for his contribution to the Music Industry, Gourzong for his contribution to Entertainment and the Tourism industry, and Blake-Hanna for her contribution to Public Service in the field of Culture, and Cultural Heritage Preservation.

The awards were presented on Heroes’ Day, October 15.
