by August 21st, 2018

People from all walks of life gathered in the IRIE FM Courtyard on Sunday to celebrate Jamaica’s first national hero, Marcus Garvey.

A jam-packed venue, motivating speeches, uplifting reasoning, thought-provoking poetry, drumming, and great performances were all indicators that the 27th annual staging of IRIE FM Marcus Garvey Celebration was again a tremendous success.

Guest speaker Bayyinah Bello in her passion-filled speech, urged Jamaican’s to take action instead of continuous talk.

During the live stage show performances, the legendary Bunny Wailer who was joined on stage by his son Asedenaki, delivered a very short but well received set.

Meanwhile, roots singer Richie Spice could do no wrong. The entertainer who was clearly in his element, belted out a slew of hits such as Giddeon Boot, Earth A Run Red, Brown Skin, Plane Land and Groovin My Girl, had the large crowd ignited during his more than half an hour set.

Singer J who used tracks was not to be out done. The talented entertainer left many mesmerized by his vocal ability. He sang favorites such as Can’t Stop Me Now and Chosen.

It was also a great night for upcoming entertainer Lila Ike. Her delivery and style of tracks like Biggest Fan and Second Chance was refreshingly entertaining.

Other good performances came from I Jah KNOWAH, Black Hero, and Bongo Herman.

The curtains for the 2018 staging of IRIE FM’s Marcus Garvey Celebration fell at 11:45 pm Sunday.
