Irma causes increase in rainfall in Jamaica

by September 8th, 2017

Jamaicans should expect an increase in showers this weekend due to the passage of hurricane Irma.

Already the eastern part of the island has received some down pour.

Flooding has been reported in New Kingston.

Duty Forecaster at the Met Service, Javed Hudson says a trough being induced by hurricane Irma, will cause showers and thunderstorms to continue affecting sections of the island through to Sunday.

A small craft warning is in effect for offshore areas of the north coast, due to strong winds and rough seas in the vicinity of showers and thunderstorms.
