First Vice President Calvin martin will take over as head of the Jamaica Basketball Association (JABA), following the resignation of out-going president Dr. Mark Bloomfield.

Bloomfield who was elected in January of 2015 tendered his resignation yesterday to the JABA executive committee citing personal reasons.

His resignation takes effect on September 23 at which point…….Martin…..the former national junior coach……will take over the leadership of the organization until the next election in early 2018.

Bloomfield whose plans to revive the national basketball league failed to materialize……will still be available to serve the organization in a lower capacity.

Under Bloomfield’s watch Jamaica captured bronze at the 2016 Caribbean under 16 Youth Basketball Championship and he also spear-headed the inaugural Jamrockerz Senior Men’s Basketball Championship also in 2016.
