by May 13th, 2019

JahDore’s common-law wife, Samela Welch has rubbished claims made by the Jamaica Constabulary Force.

Music News understands that JahDore’s two Rastafarian children eight and four years of age were taken from their home allegedly by police, and were later trimmed and fed chicken.

According to the Jamaica Constabulary Force, “The Police did not, nor caused to happen- neither the trimming nor feeding of the boys.”

In the press release, the police further claim that, “the investigations have so far revealed that the boys who went to the Police Station in the company of relatives were taken to the barber and for lunch by their aunt, who had accompanied the boys’ mother to the station, in a matter which was reported to the Police by concerned family members.”

However, JahDore’s common-law wife Samela Welch said she gave no one permission to trim her children’s hair or feed them. She maintained that the ordeal took place while her children were in custody of the police.

Meanwhile, Minister of Culture, Gender, Entertainment and Sport, Olivia Grange, has expressed shock and deep concern about the reported maltreatment of JahDore and his family by the police.

In a statement sent to Music News, Minister Grange said, she has spoken with JahDore and assured him of the Government’s commitment to investigate and take appropriate action where necessary.

She added that she assured him of her respect for and commitment to the Rastafari community and its beliefs and will fight any act to deprive Rastas of their rights.

Nonetheless, JahDore is expected to go before the court to answer charges of assault following an alleged confrontation with the police.

Reports are that, on April 30, 2019, the boys were taken from the family’s Irish Townhome by the police to the Garden Town Police Station which resulted in the Rastafarian boys being fed meat and their locks trimmed. This after cops visited the residence of the entertainer reportedly after being informed that the two boys were not attending school.

Reports are that the children are home-schooled.

In a press release sent to Music News, JahDore’s common law wife said the ordeal has left her children distraught.

Meanwhile, police investigations continue.
