Jamaica Day celebrations prompt call for equal rights and justice in schools.

State Minister for Education and Youth Alando Terrelonge is calling for equal rights and justice in schools.

The call was made at the National Jamaica Day celebration at the National Arena, this morning (Feb 22).

In his address, Mr. Terrelonge pointed out that Jamaican children should always be taught to strive for fairness among their peers.

The state minister urged Jamaicans to reject crime and violence.

In the meantime, Opposition Spokesperson on Education, Reverend Ronald Thwaites reminded the students, that real change originates with them.

He told them that education was the vehicle through which they would achieve change in their community.

Additionally, Reverend Thwaites urged teachers to foster learning, and students to strive for the best in their studies, to escape a life of crime and violence

He was speaking at the National Jamaica day celebration at the national arena, this morning.

It was observed under the theme ‘Celebrate Jamaica: embracing positive values, envisioning inclusive education for a better Jamaica’.
