Jamaica dominate opening day of Regional U19 Third Round game vs Windwards

Jamaica’s youth cricketers on Tuesday enjoyed the better of exchanges on the opening day of the second round Regional Under 19 Three-Day encounter against Windward Islands at Arnos Vale in St. Vincent.

Batting first the Windwards were dismissed for 184 led by Tahj Tavernier who made 53. Bowling for Jamaica captain Raewin Senior (3-45) and Sanjay Brown (3-12) were the primary destroyers.

The Jamaicans in response closed the day on 133 for 2 – a deficit of 51 runs with 8 wickets still intact.

Bryan Brown (16) and Andre McCarthy (12) will return to the crease on Wednesday.

Ricardo McIntosh is the top run-getter so far with 64 and put on 65 for the first wicket with Kirk McKenzie who made 33.

Scores heading into day two, Windwards 184, Jamaica 133 for 2.

Over at Sion Hill Guyana taking first strike were bowled out for 104. Trinidad and Tobago in reply reached 51 for 4.

Action at Park Hill saw the Leeward Islands closing the day on 119 for 5 in response to Barbados who earlier made 249 all out.

Mathew Forde (45) and Nyeem Young (44) were the main run-scorers against Elroy Francis who took 4 for 56.
