Health and Wellness Minister, Dr. Christopher Tufton has confirmed that the country is experiencing the fifth wave of Coronavirus infections.

He made the revelation during this morning’s (May 18) Covid Conversation press conference.

Noting that the Omicron BA2 variant is likely driving the wave, Dr. Tufton urged persons not to panic.

And National Epidemiologist, Dr. Karen Webster Kerr gave an overview of the country’s Covid-19 situation.

She said the transmission level is very high.

And, 147 new Covid-19 cases were recorded, yesterday.

Health Minister Dr. Christopher Tufton added that the positivity rate is 17.6 per cent.

He again urged persons to get vaccinated.
