Citizens across the island will be observing a national day of mourning today (June 23) for children who have been killed and those suffering from abuse.

The day of mourning was proclaimed by Governor-General, Sir Patrick Allen, during a ceremony at King’s house on Wednesday.

The initiative is also being held to pay tribute to eight-year-old Danielle Rowe, who was recently abducted and murdered.

As part of the observance, tribute sessions will be held by various stakeholders including the Child Protection and Family Services Agency, (CPFSA).

Citizens have been invited to participate in the day of mourning by observing moments of silence, turning on their headlights and wearing black clothing.
