Jamaica records 11 additional Covid-19 related deaths and 652 new cases

The Health Ministry is reporting 11 additional Covid-19 related deaths.

The deaths occurred between August 28 and September 9.

The deceased are 7 males and 4 females.

They range in age from 40 to 84 years.

St. Ann, St. Elizabeth, Portland and Kingston and St. Andrew each recorded 2 deaths, while St. Mary, St. Catherine and St. James recorded 1 death each.

The country’s Covid death toll is now 1,704.

There was one coincidental death.

The Health Ministry says 12 additional deaths are under investigation.

Meantime, there were 652 new Covid-19 cases, pushing the tally to 75,297.

Of the new cases, 386 are females and 266 are males.

They range in age from 2 days to 99 years.

The positivity rate is 42.1 per cent.

Kingston and St. Andrew recorded the highest number of cases with 151, followed by St. Catherine with 120.

802 persons are in hospital, among them 110 are severely ill, 60 critically ill and 152 moderately ill.

Meantime, 110 more persons have recovered, pushing that tally to 49,445.

23,645 cases are active.
