For the first time in weeks, Jamaica has recorded more than a hundred new Covid-19 cases.

The positivity rate has also increased, and is now at 16.1 per cent.

122 new cases were recorded yesterday (July 20), pushing the country’s case count to 51,404.

Of the new cases, 65 are females and 57 are males.

Their ages range from 36 days to 93 years.

Kingston and St. Andrew recorded the highest number of cases with 33 followed by St. Catherine with 22.

Portland and Trelawny recorded no new case.

Meantime, there were 5 additional Covid-19 related deaths, pushing the toll to 1,163.

The deceased are three women from St. James ages 74, 75 and 84, a 71 year old woman from St. Catherine and a 49 year old man from Kingston and St. Andrew.

The Health Ministry says one of the deaths was previously under investigation.

One more death is now under investigation.

Meantime, 27 more persons have recovered, pushing the tally to 46,751.

3,136 cases are active.

111 persons are in hospital, among them are 11 who are critically ill and 28 who are moderately ill.
