Jamaica records 138 new Covid-19 cases and 4 new deaths

Jamaica’s Covid-19 cases continue to rise.

138 new cases were recorded yesterday (July 21), pushing the country’s case count to 51,542.

Of the new cases, 85 are females and 53 are males.

They range in age from 4 days to 97 years.

Kingston and St. Andrew recorded the highest number of cases with 51, followed by St. James with 32 cases.

St. Thomas recorded no new case.

The positivity rate is 13.8 per cent.

Meantime, 4 additional Covid-19 deaths were recorded yesterday, pushing the toll to 1,167.

The deceased are a 64 year old man from Kingston and St. Andrew, and three persons from St. James, two men ages 57 and 75 and a 72 year old woman.

The death of the latter was formerly under investigation.

The Health Ministry says there were 2 coincidental deaths.

22 more persons have recovered, pushing the tally to 46,773.

3, 248 cases are active.

122 persons are in hospital, among them are 16 who are critically ill and 34 who are moderately ill.
