Jamaica records 142 new Covid-19 cases and 5 more deaths

Jamaica recorded 142 new Covid-19 cases yesterday (July 23), pushing the country’s case count to 51,828.

Of the new cases 80 are females and 62 are males.

They range in age from 5 months to 84 years.

Kingston and St. Andrew recorded the highest number of cases with 49 followed by St. Catherine and St. James with 20 cases each.

The positivity rate is 13.6 percent.

The Health Ministry is also reporting 5 more Covid-19 related deaths.

The deceased are five males from St. James, St. Elizabeth, Kingston and St. Andrew and St. Thomas.

Their ages range from 38 to 83 years.

One of the deaths was previously under investigation.

Meantime, one more death death is now under investigation.

24 more persons have recovered, pushing the tally to 46, 818.

3,481 cases are active.

143 persons are in hospital, among them are 16 who are critically ill and 32 who are moderately ill.
