Jamaica records 19 more Covid-19 related deaths and 289 new cases; 494 hospitalised

The Health Ministry is reporting 19 additional Covid-19 related deaths.

The deaths occurred between August 12 and 16.

The deceased are 10 females and 9 males with ages ranging from 39 to 94 years.

They lived in the parishes of St. Ann, Westmoreland, St. Elizabeth, Hanover, St. James, St. Catherine, and Kingston & St. Andrew.

Meanwhile, there was one coincidental death.

The Health Ministry says 2 additional deaths are under investigation.

The Covid-19 death toll is now 1,339.

Hospitalistions have increased to 494.

There are 111 patients who are moderately ill and 32 who are critically ill.

289 new Covid cases were also recorded, pushing the tally to 59,377.

The positivity rate is 30.7 per cent.
