Jamaica records 2 deaths and 89 new cases of covid-19

The country recorded 2 covid-19 deaths yesterday pushing total deaths from the virus to 227.

 

The deceased are a 50-year-old female and a 17-year-old male from St. Catherine.

 

There was one coincidental death, and one other death is under investigation.

 

Meanwhile, there were 89 new cases yesterday which increased the country’s tally to 9,723.

 

The 45 males and 44 females ranging in age from 4 years to 94 years.

 

Only one parish, St. Thomas did not record a new case yesterday.

 

The majority of the cases are from St. James which recorded 31 cases; St. Ann,  Kingston, and St. Andrew recorded 14 cases each, St. Catherine and St. Mary have six cases each,  Hanover, Manchester and Trelawny 4 each,  Westmoreland 3, and Clarendon, Portland, and St. Elizabeth had one case each.

 

125 persons recovered yesterday.

 

Seventy-six patients are hospitalized – 18 are moderately ill and 3 are critically ill.
