Jamaica records 283 new Covid-19 cases

The Health Ministry is reporting that 283 people tested positive for Covid-19 in the last 24 hours.

This has pushed the country’s case count to 125,250.

Of the new cases, 149 are females while 134 are males.

They range in age from 1 to 96 years.

Kingston and St. Andrew recorded the highest number of cases with 97, followed by St. Catherine with 47.

The positivity rate is 25.4 percent.

Two more persons have died from the virus; an 89 year old female and a 70 year old male, both from Kingston and St. Andrew.

The death toll is now 2,677.

455 persons are in hospital – among them 17 who are critically ill, 50 who are severely ill and 81 who are moderately ill.
