Jamaica records 4 additional Covid-19 related deaths and 23 new cases

A 67 year old St. Ann man is among Jamaica’s four latest Covid-19 casualties.

The others are a 49-year-old man from Trelawny whose death was previously under investigation, a 74-year-old female from St. Catherine and a 77-year-old male from Kingston & St. Andrew.

The Covid-19 death toll is now 2,396.

The Health Ministry says one other death is under investigation.

Meantime, 23 more persons have tested positive for Covid-19, pushing the country’s case count to 91, 272.

Of the new cases, 19 are females and 4 are males.

They range in age from 1 to 85 years.

Kingston and St. Andrew recorded the highest number of cases with 7, followed by St. James with 4.

The positivity rate is 3.5 per cent.

155 persons are hospitalized. Among them, 16 are severely ill, 8 critically ill and 32 moderately ill.

24 more persons have recovered from the virus, pushing recoveries to 62,666.
