Jamaica records 45 new COVID-19 cases and 2 more COVID-19 deaths

An 82-year-old female and a 67-year-old male from St. Catherine are the latest persons to die from COVID-19.

The country’s death toll now stands at 2, 813.

Meantime, the Health and Wellness Ministry reports that 45 more persons have tested positive for the virus, pushing the case count to 127, 961.

Of the new cases, 24 are females and 21 are males.

They range in age from 83 days to 103 years.

All parishes except St. Ann, St. Elizabeth and St. Thomas recorded new cases.

St. Catherine had the highest number of cases with 11.

The positivity rate has decreased to 4.7 per cent.

Meanwhile, 144 more persons are hospitalized with COVID-19. 35 of them are moderately ill, 13 are severely ill and 9 are critically ill.

281 more persons have recovered from the virus, pushing that tally to 76 thousand 7 hundred and 8.
