Jamaica records 5 more COVID-19 related deaths

Five additional COVID-19 related deaths have pushed the country’s death toll to 1,080.

 

The deceased are 2 females and three males from St. James, St. Catherine and Kingston and St. Andrew.

 

Their ages range from 54 to 85 years.

 

The Health Ministry is also reporting 2 coincidental deaths and 1 death which is under investigation.

 

Meantime, 42 new cases were recorded yesterday, pushing the country’s case count to 50,166.

 

Of the new cases, 21 are females and 21 are males, with ages ranging from 9 to 82 years.

 

Kingston and St. Andrew recorded the highest number of cases with 8, followed by St. Mary with 6.

 

St. Ann and Portland recorded no new case.

 

The positivity rate is 5%.

 

One hundred and eighteen more people have recovered, pushing the tally to 30,192.

 

18,533 cases are active.

 

106 persons are in hospital; among them are 11 who are critically ill and 17 who are moderately ill.
