Jamaica records 521 new Covid-19 cases and 3 additional deaths

Jamaica has recorded 521 new Covid-19 cases.

The country’s case count is now 82,349.

Of the new cases 277 are females, while 242 are males.

They range in age from 2 days to 95 years.

St. Catherine recorded the highest number of cases with 133, followed by Kingston and St. Andrew with 127.

Another 2 cases are under investigation.

The positivity rate is 31.8 percent.

Meantime, there were 3 additional Covid-19 related deaths, which occurred on September 3, 19 and 22.

The deceased are a 65 year old male and 70 year old female both from St. Elizabeth as well as a 46 year old male from St. Catherine

The country’s Covid death toll is now 1,824.

The Health Ministry said 5 additional deaths are under investigation.

Meantime, 638 persons are in hospital, among them 90 who are severely ill, 31 who are critically ill, along with 121 who are moderately ill.

231 more persons have recovered, pushing the tally to 51,871.

28,082 cases are active.
