Jamaica records 7 additional Covid-19 related deaths and 157 new cases

The Health Ministry is reporting 7 additional Covid-19 related deaths.

The deaths occurred between October 11 and 16.

One of the deaths was previously under investigation.

The deceased are 5 males and 2 females.

They range in age from 60 to 88 years.

They lived in St. Mary, St. Catherine, St. Thomas, Clarendon and Kingston and St. Andrew.

The country’s Covid-19 death tally is now 2,110.

Meantime, 157 new cases were recorded, pushing the country’s case count to 87,389.

Of the new cases 91 are females and 66 are males.

They range in age from 18 days to 99 years.

All parishes recorded new cases cases.

St. Catherine recorded the highest with 46 followed by Kingston and St. Andrew with 36.

The positivity rate is 11.8 per cent.

389 persons are in hospital, among them 45 who are severely ill, 29 who are critically ill and 73 who are moderately ill.

198 more persons have recovered, pushing that tally to 55,462.

There are 29,220 active cases.
