Jamaica records increase in COVID-19 cases as 487 more people test positive for the virus

Jamaica has recorded another major increase in COVID-19 cases.

 

This, as 487 more people have tested positive for the virus, pushing the country’s case count to 137,076.

 

Of the new cases, 287 are females and 200 are males.

 

They range in age from 3 months to 94 years.

 

Kingston and St Andrew recorded the highest number of cases with 101, and St Catherine followed with 87.

 

The positivity rate has also increased to 35. 5%.

 

Meantime, hospitalizations have decreased by seven from 132 to 125.

 

The Health and Wellness Ministry also reported one COVID-related death, which occurred in October last year.

 

The deceased was a 71-year-old male from St Catherine.

 

There are 70 more recoveries, pushing total recoveries to 86,973.
