Jamaica sees another spike in covid 19 cases, with 181 cases yesterday and 3 more deaths

There has been another spike in Covid-19 cases.

181 newly confirmed Covid-19 cases push the country’s case count to 52,322.

The positivity rate is 19.3%.

Of the new cases 107 are females and 74 are males, their ages range from 3 months to 95 years.

Kingston and St. Andrew recorded the highest number of cases with 52, followed by St. Catherine with 41, Manchester with 17 cases, Westmoreland 16 cases, St. James 15 cases, St. Ann 9 cases, Clarendon and St. Thomas with 7 cases each, St. Mary 3 cases and Trelawny and Hanover with 2 cases.

Portland recorded no new case.

Meanwhile the Health Ministry is reporting 3 additional Covid-19 related deaths.

The new deaths have pushed the country’s Covid death toll to 1,182.

The deceased are two males aged 67 and 65 from Kingston and St. Andrew and a 55-year-old female from St. Catherine.

141 persons are hospitalized, among them 33 patients who are moderately ill and 23 who are critically ill.

19 persons have recovered pushing the tally to 46,911.

There are 3,871 active cases.
