Jamaica sees decline in Covid-19 cases, hospitalization and deaths

Jamaica is seeing a decline in Covid-19 cases, hospitalization, and deaths.

179 new Covid-19 cases were recorded yesterday (September 21), pushing the tally to 80,959.

Of the new cases 108 are females, 70 are males and 1 is under investigation.

They range in age from 41 days to 91 years.

Kingston and St. Andrew recorded the highest number of cases with 63, followed by St. Catherine with 34.

The positivity rate is 27.6 per cent.

Meantime, there were 3 additional Covid-19 related deaths.

Pushing the tally to 1,803.

The deceased are two males from St. Catherine aged 63 and 65 and an 89 year old female from Kingston and St. Andrew.

The Health Ministry says 7 additional deaths are under investigation.

700 persons are in hospital, among them 97 are severely ill, 43 critically ill and 124 moderately ill.

Meantime, 236 more persons have recovered, pushing the tally to 51,357.

There are 27,249 active cases.
