Jamaica targetting 250,000 tourists from Latin America

by August 2nd, 2023

Jamaica is targetting 250,000 visitors from Latin America over the next 5 years.

The move forms part of Tourism Minister Edmund Bartlett’s aggressive push to re-engage this large source market.

According to Mr. Bartlett, the Latin American region has over 600 million people and represents one of the largest source markets for Jamaica.

He adds that with travel fully returned and the potential of new airlift out of the region, Jamaica is building out strategies to attract these visitors.

He adds that now is the time for Jamaica to leverage this very lucrative market as part of the drive to welcome 5 million visitors by 2025.

In 2019, Jamaica welcomed over 38,000 visitors from Latin America, and the island was poised to increase this number in 2020.

Coming out of the COVID-19 pandemic in 2022, Jamaica was able to welcome over 22,000 visitors from the region.

Mr. Bartlett is in Latin America with a team of senior tourism representatives as part of a high-level strategic re-engagement of tourism partners in the region.
