The Jamaica Teachers’ Association (JTA) has accepted the Government’s wage offer.
The JTA had initially rejected the Government’s 4 per cent offer but President, Winston Smith said following negotiations, some adjustments were made.
He said 68 per cent of members accepted the offer, 30 per cent rejected, while the remaining 2 per cent abstained.
Mr. Smith noted that while the offer is not very satisfactory, the JTA’s acceptance shows that the nation’s teachers have the country’s best interest at heart.
