Jamaica to benefit from investments of US$30M from the USA

Jamaica is set to benefit from investments of 30 million US dollars from the United States of America.

The development follows a meeting between Prime Minister Andrew Holness and US Vice President, Kamala Harris, at the White House, yesterday (March 30).

The investment by the US government includes, 20 million US dollars to boost commerce between the two nations, and a further 10 million US dollars to address human capital development and violence reduction for at-risk youth.

Mr. Holness expressed appreciation to the US government for its commitment to provide funding assistance in several areas, to include, recovery from the Covid pandemic, violence reduction, energy, and trade.

He noted that Jamaica and the USA enjoy strong partnerships.

Mr. Holness pointed to the role the USA can play in Jamaica’s future.

He added that Vice President Harris signaled agreement for the establishment of a working group, between Jamaica and the USA, to discuss issues unique to Jamaica, and to continue dialogue.
