Jamaican batsman Kirk Mckenzie is in line to make his West Indies test debut against India

Jamaican batsman Kirk Mckenzie is in line to make his West Indies test debut against India.

It comes after he was named along with spinner Alick Athanaze as the 2 first-time invitees named by the cricket west indies selection panel in the 13-man ‘Windies squad for the first match of the two-test series….to be played at Windsor Park in Dominica from July 12 to 16.

The squad to be led by captain Kraigg Brathwaite also includes vice captain Jermaine Blackwood along with Jason Holder and Alzarri Joseph who both returned early from duties with the limited overs team at the ICC Cricket World Cup qualifiers in Zimbabwe.

There were also recalls for all-rounder Rahkeem Cornwall, who played his last test in November 2021 and left-arm spinner Jomel Warrican who was in The squad which visited Zimbabwe but missed the last tour of South Africa in February.

Completing the team are Tagenarine Chanderpaul, Joshua Da Silva, Shannon Gabriel, Raymon Reifer, Kemar roach and Jomel Warrican.

Tevin Imlach and Akeem Jordan are the traveling reserves with left-arm spinner Gudakesh Motie Un-avail-able for selection as a result of his ongoing rehabilitation from injury

The ‘Windies squad will travel to Dominica on Sunday following their ongoing pre-series camp at the Coolidge cricket ground in Antigua. 

They will have training sessions on Monday and Tuesday in the build-up to the match which will be the first fixture for both teams in the new 2023-2025 ICC World Test Championship.
