Jamaican Olympic Gymnast Toni-Ann Williams will undergo surgery tomorrow

Jamaican Olympic gymnast Toni-Ann Williams will undergo surgery tomorrow to repair a ruptured Achilles tendon.

The 23 year old suffered the injury while competing in Portland, Oregon at a college event on Sunday, effectively ending her collegiate career.

Williams, who is in her fifth and final year at the University of California at Berkeley, is expected to be out for six months.

Williams a six-time pack-12 freshman of the week and who was the NCAA regional vault champion in 2015 dislocated her elbow while preparing for the pan am championships last year. She also underwent knee surgery after her historic appearance at the 2016 Rio Olympics.

This is the second time she has suffered an Achilles injury that has required surgery.
