by May 12th, 2022

The country’s air traffic services have been disrupted as traffic controllers have taken industrial action.

The workers withdrew their service, in protest over ongoing salary-related issues.

Speaking with IRIE F-M news, Minister without Portfolio in the Office of the Prime Minister, Robert Morgan said with workers walking off the job, the management of the Jamaica Civil Aviation Authority (JCAA) has taken over the controls.

He notes that disruptions in air travel are expected if workers do not return to duty.

He says management cannot continue to handle the controls for long.

Meantime, Director-General of the JCAA, Nari Williams-Singh noted that efforts are underway to restore normalcy in the provision of Jamaica’s air traffic services.
