Jamaica’s economy grew by 6 per cent in the October to December quarter last year, compared to the corresponding period in 2020.

Director General of the Planning Institute of Jamaica PIOJ, Dr. Wayne Henry made the announcement during the institute’s quarterly press briefing, this morning (February 16).

He said preliminary estimates show that the growth is as a result of adjustments to the Covid-19 containment measures, among other things.

The PIOJ is projecting that the economy will continue to grow for the next fiscal year.

Dr. Henry said the reopening of Jamalco Bauxite Refinery could contribute to the growth.
