Jamaica’s Miqueal Symone Williams makes Top 10 in Miss Universe; PM reacts

Prime Minister Andrew Holness is among the many Jamaicans congratulating Miqueal Symone Williams who represented the country in the Miss Universe pageant on Sunday.

On Instagram, the Prime Minister wrote, “Congratulations Miqueal-Symone Williams for making it to the top 10 in the Miss Universe Competition. We are so proud of you! #MissUniverse2021 #Jamaica.”

Via Twitter, 24-year-old Miqueal-Symone Williams in a Tweet expressed how grateful she is for the support. “Now that I am done crying, I can say a big thank you to everyone for watching and supporting me. This was an amazing night and I did my best! I’m very proud of myself and grateful for your support,” she wrote.

The Miss Universe pageant crowned its winner last night, as dozens of international participants competed for the prestigious title. Though Williams didn’t win the crown, she placed Jamaica in the top 10 along with Australia, Puerto Rico, Thailand, and Costa Rica.

The crown was won by Mexico’s Andrea Meza, while the first runner-up was Brazil, and Miss Peru was the second runner-up. Also in the top five were Dominican Republic and India.

Jamaica’s Miqueal-Symone Williams is an international model who travelled to London, Paris, Spain, and New York, and has worked with brands like Valentino and L’Oréal.
