by July 19th, 2023

Jamaica’s reggae girls, on the eve of the FIFA Women’s World Cup in Australia and New Zealand, have been boosted by the return of midfielder Jodi Brown.

This on a day where a number  of international media entities turned out at the Victoria State training Centre in Melbourne to witness the team’s first official open training session .

Brown, the Florida State University standout, made her belated return to  training after being on the receiving end of a robust challenge in the opening minutes of the one-nil win over Morocco behind closed doors on Sunday.

The St. Ann native Brown who still had her thigh strapped did a number of 100 metre sprints without any signs of distress and further demonstrated the injury could be behind her with work in the gym while being monitored by team Doctor Gillian Lawrence who explained what had been taking place behind the scenes since the injury.

And with Brown training by herself the rest of the squad was involved in tactical and technical work geared towards nullifying France who they face in their opening game on Sunday.

As a side note, the mood in the camp was lifted even further at dinner with the revelation that it was the birthday of head of delegation Elaine Walker-Brown….while  the two-hour long training was attended by a number of international media broadcasters…including the Associated Press, ABC News and Fifa TV………….who gathered alongside fans and well-wishers who met with the players after and had their pictures taken and their memorabilia signed.

The FIFA women’s World Cup kicks-off on Thursday with two games….New Zealand vs Norway at 5pm Australia time and 2:am in Jamaica and the clash between Australia and Ireland at 8pm locally and 5:am in Jamaica.
