Jamaica’s Women’s Bobsleigh team finishes 19th in historic Winter Games debut

Jamaica’s women’s bobsleigh team of driver Jazmine Finlator- Victorian   and Carrie Russell ended their historic campaign at the winter Olympics in Pyenogchang South Korea finishing in 19th position in the two member team competition today.

Starting the day in 18th place the Jamaicans first produce a time of 51.83 seconds in the third round before improving to 51.32 seconds in the fourth and final round.

They finished with cumulative score of 3 minutes 25.94 seconds which placed them ahead of Nigeria

Yesterday the pair  clocked 51.50 seconds   in heat  two  inside  the  olympic  sliding  centre, following  their  17th  place  finish in  heat  one  where  they  were  timed  at  51.29 seconds  for a cumulative score of 1 minute 42.79 seconds.

Meanwhile Germany’s Mariama Jamanka and Lisa Buckwitz struck gold by beating USA by seven-hundredths of a second.

Germany, with a cumulative winning time of 3min 22.45sec, pocketed their fourth olympic title in women’s bobsleigh to gain on the USA’s total of five.
