JaRIA’s Honour Awards postponed

by February 26th, 2021

The Jamaica Reggae Industry Association (JaRIA) has postponed its Honour Awards due to COVID-19 concerns.

Since the month of February, Jamaica has recorded over one hundred positive COVID-19 cases daily which has prompted the government to impose measures that include a limitation on public gatherings to a maximum of ten (10) persons.

This new measure puts the organizers of the JaRIA Honour Awards in breach of the public gathering regulation.

Coleen Douglas, Director of Marketing Communications and Public Relations Manager for JaRIA, during a Music News exclusive interview, explained that they were forced to pull the plug on the annual event slated for February 28 that would culminate the 2021 Reggae Month Celebrations.

JaRIA is an independent, non-governmental organization serving the needs and furthering the common interest of all individuals, institutions, and firms, directly and indirectly, involved in the Jamaican music and entertainment industries.
