JAS says more farmers coming forward about how they suffered from recent effluent spill and fish kill in Rio Cobre

President of the Jamaica Agricultural Society, Lenworth Fulton says more farmers are coming forward about how they have suffered severe loss from the recent effluent spill and fish kill in the Rio Cobre, in St. Catherine.

 

As a result of the pollution, several communities were left without water supply and fisherfolk and farmers suffered major losses.

 

The Jamaica Agricultural Society says the loss is estimated at $30 million.

 

He expressed confidence that the Government will remain committed to providing assistance to those affected.
