Jason Holder named on ICC Test Team of the Year, Kohli sweeps awards

West Indies captain Jason Holder has been named on the 2018 ICC Test Team of the Year.

It comes after a year during which he took 33 wickets at an average of 12.39 which included a match-winning 10-wicket haul against Bangladesh in Jamaica.

The Bajan also had 4 five-wicket hauls to go along with a best of 6 for 59. His highlights in 2018 also include an impressive double against India in Hyderabad where he smashed 52 and bagged 5 wickets (including those of Virat Kohli and Ajinkya Rahane).

With the bat he scored 336 runs at an average of 37.33 with a high-score of 74.

Completing the ICC Test Team of the Year are Virat Kohli, who was named captain, Tom Latham, Dimuth Karunaratne, Kane Williamson, Henry Nicholls, Rishabh Pant, Kagiso Rabada, Nathan Lyon, Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammad Abbas.

Rohit Sharma, Jonny Bairstow, Virat Kohli (c), Joe Root, Ross Taylor, Jos Buttler (wk), Ben Stokes, Mustaifizur Rahman, Rashid Khan, Umesh Yadav, Jasprit Bumrah.

Kohli in the meantime swept the pool at the 2018 ICC award ceremony, winning back-to-back player of the year awards.

In addition to the Sir Garfield Sobers Trophy as the player of the year, Kohli was named both the Test and ODI Player of the Year, the first time any player has won all three of the major individual awards.

Kohli, in the calendar year, scored 1,322 runs at an average of 55.08 in 13 Tests with five centuries and amassed 1202 runs at an astonishing average of 133.55 with six hundreds in 14 ODI’s to go along with 211 runs in 10 T20 Internationals.

He now joins Australian greats Ricky Ponting and Mitchell Johnson as the only multiple winners of the Sir Garfield Sobers Trophy.
