Jason Holder named on Test XI of the Year

Jason Holder is the lone Windies player to feature on the Test Team of the Year named by Cricket.com.au.

Holder, who made the Team of the Year as an all-rounder, scored 336 runs at an average of 37.33 with a high-score of 74.

With the ball he took 33 wickets at an average of 12.39 which included a match-winning 10-wicket haul against Bangladesh at Sabina Park in Jamaica.

The Bajan also had 4 five-wicket hauls to go along with a best of 6 for 59

His highlights in 2018 also include an impressive double against India in Hyderabad where he smashed 52 and bagged 5 wickets, including those of Virat Kohli and Ajinkya Rahane

Completing the Cricket.com.au Team of the Year are Kusal Mendis, Tom Latham, Kane Williamson, Virat Kohli, AB de Villiers, Jos Butler, Kagiso Rabada, Nathan Lyon, Mohammad Abbas and Jasprit Bumrah.

The Cricket.com.au T20 team of the year meanwhile included big-hitting Jamaican Andre Russell who made 625 runs with a high-score of 121 with a strike rate of 183.82 while taking 35 wickets at strike rate of 16 and economy rate of 9.

Russell had arguably the greatest individual T20 performance when playing for Jamaica Tallawahs against Trinbago Knight Riders in the Caribbean Premier League.

Russell took a superb catch and bagged a last-over hat-trick in the field and then blazed a 40-ball century, an unbeaten 121 from 49 balls while batting at No.7.

Also making the T20 XI were the likes of Bajan-turned-Englishman Jofra Archer, Imran Tahir, Rashid Khan, Colin Munro, Aaron Finch who was named captain.

It’s completed by AB de Villiers, Rishabh Pant, Mohammed Nabi, Daniel Christian and Wahab Riaz.
