by April 6th, 2023

Minister of Foreign Affairs Kamina Johnson-Smith is urging Jamaicans to abide by the immigration laws governing the countries they visit.

The minister was addressing concerns arising from recent reports of irregular migration of Jamaicans in Belize, Mexico and Panama.

She added that all countries maintain the right to determine who enters their borders, and that the countries mentioned may have already implemented heightened surveillance at immigration points.

Mrs Johnson Smith expressed concern that many of these persons traveling under risky circumstances, take their children with them, exposing the youngsters to dangerous situations.

The minister said government is monitoring the situation.
